Roomba CHM gearbox cleaned

I was about to order a new CHM for my Roomba. I had read somewhere this was what I needed to do if it kept saying "Please remove and clean roomba's brushes" even after I'd done just that. Luckily, I couldn't remember what the CHM was called (I still don't know what it stands for) so I had to look it all up again.

I happened upon this blog post, explaining that you can clean it out instead:

Please Remove and Clean Roomba's Brushes

This will definitely prove useful in the future when I need to look these directions up again.

I really love Dusty, my roomba, but I hate when she's not running properly. Each time I learn a new trick, it's wonderful, but it often comes at the expense of having a poorly-vacuumed floor while I'm diagnosing the problem or waiting for a new part to come in.

Note to self: When upgrading Kubuntu...

Twice now WICD has saved me from the terror that is network-manager. Every time I upgrade my version of Kubuntu, it always seems to think I want knetworkmanager to run instead. Then someone rides a bike within a mile of my house and the wireless connection is lost. Killing the manager isn't even enough, for some reason KDE doesn't stop trying to pay attention to it. If it has messed up my wireless connection, the only way I know to fix it is to reboot. Not rebooting is the biggest reason my roommate got me to use Linux back in college.

So, note to self:

When upgrading Kubuntu, uninstall the package: "network-manager" and let wicd do the talking.

Hopefully it won't reinstall it in the next upgrade, but we'll have to see.
